Yuvraj Singh Ouster signals to other Senior Players
After showing the door to Yuvraj Singh, the selectors have very clearly hinted the other senior statesman MS Dhoni that his fate will also be the same if he doesn’t raise his game.
Neither Dhoni nor Yuvraj has been in his peak form in the recent times, but, the former has been a tad better in comparison to the latter and also a tad fitter.
So the selectors have kept him in the set up, but, only for the time being.
During his interaction to the press after the team selection for the Sri Lanka One Day games, MSK Prasad who chairs the panel of national selectors made it clear that Dhoni’s spot is not guaranteed.
If Dhoni has to remain the first choice to stand behind the sticks for the men in Blues, he will have to produce the goods like he used to do in the past.
Prasad however doesn’t seem to believe that Dhoni is too old for international Cricket.
Talking about the former Tennis player Andre Agassi, Prasad says that he was someone who hadn’t too much success in his career before he got into his thirties.
It was actually after getting into his thirties that he blossomed and became one of the best in the world and probably one of the best of all time as well.
So, it’s not that once you are in your thirties, you can’t reach the topmost level of your game. If Agassi could, Dhoni can as well and the selectors expect Dhoni to show some good touch moving forward.
But if he doesn’t do that, the selectors will have no option, but to start searching for his successor as there is a lot of wicket keeping talent in the country.
