SYDNEY SIXERS SET FOR ANOTHER BIG BASH STRUGGLE

Sydney Sixers, BBL05’s wooden spooners seem to be back and better as they prepare to once again feature in the season six of the Big Bash League tournament.

There were four new faces in the Sixers camp as they prepared for the BBL06, with the England duo of Sam Billings and Jason Roy headlining the new changes.

However, they will only be available for the beginning part of the tournament, and the back end of the competition, will see them miss out due to International duty for England.

Johan Botha, now an Australian citizen, is no longer considered as an overseas player. Test quick Joe Mennie, and Dan Hughes, NSW batsman also join the club.

However, on the list of names to be dropped out, the big duo of Ed Cowan and Steve Smith, Australia’s captain, herald the list. Smith has not played for the club since the third season of the BBL.

If the Sixers, who won the maiden edition of the tournament, are to see any chances of threatening the final stages once again, then a major change in the fortune of the club is required.

One key man in the club who can help in the turnaround of their fortune is Nic Maddinson, the biggest hitter and best T2o batsman present in the Sixers squad.

He is the all-time leading scorer for the Sixers and possesses the capability to perform quite well in a match on any given day.

The Sixers had been able to go into the BBL final two seasons ago, following his 85 from 48 balls.

Despite not having then greatest tournament in BBL05, his explosive ability in cricket’s shortest format is not one that should be questioned too much. However, he might not be too available following his recent break through into the Australian Test squad.
